Clean Production Action is pleased to announce the release of GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals Hazard Assessment Guidance v1.5a (April 2026). This update adds two climate impact hazard endpoints—ozone depleting potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP)—as informational criteria in GreenScreen assessments. The update expands visibility into climate-related information while preserving the core method: GreenScreen Benchmark criteria and scoring logic remain unchanged from v1.4, and GreenScreen List Translator methodology is unchanged as well.
Version 1.5a also strengthens reporting by adding guidance to document whether ODP and GWP information was identified and, where applicable, to cite the regulatory lists and information sources used to characterize climate impact. Climate impact endpoints may be reported through the end of 2026 and are required beginning January 1, 2027. Under the transition policy, Licensed GreenScreen Profilers may use either v1.4 or v1.5a through December 31, 2026, unless otherwise stated in specific programs; beginning January 1, 2027, all new, renewed, or revised assessments must use v1.5a. Existing v1.4 assessments remain valid for their specified duration. For GreenScreen Certified® programs, this update provides added climate impact transparency while maintaining the hazard-based scoring foundation that GreenScreen Certified standards rely on.
